The SIÉ STUDIO Guide to Finding the Right Leather Belt

Every wardrobe needs a great leather belt. Worn with denim, tailored trousers, a crisp shirt, or belted over a coat, the right belt adds structure and pulls an outfit together.

AGNES was designed as an everyday piece with exactly this in mind. Crafted from 100% Australian Bovine Leather, it features a considered 3 cm width, an oval silver buckle, and subtle SIÉ STUDIO embossing on the reverse. AGNES sits comfortably at the high waist, or lower on the hips by sizing up.

Here's our guide to finding the right leather belt size, understanding how a belt should fit, and choosing a style that works across your wardrobe.

How Should a Leather Belt Fit?

The right belt should feel secure without feeling restrictive, comfortable enough to fasten, with room to adjust depending on what you are wearing.

AGNES is designed to be worn at the high waist. If you prefer a lower waist, size up. If you are between sizes, sizing up gives you greater versatility. A cobbler can always add extra holes if needed.

How to Measure for a Leather Belt

The easiest method is a soft measuring tape. Wrap it around the area where you intend to wear your belt, keeping it comfortably snug rather than pulled tight.

Alternatively, measure a belt you already own and like the fit of. Fasten it at your usual hole and measure from where the buckle meets the leather to that hole. When choosing a new belt, consider how and where you plan to wear it.

AGNES Leather Belt Size Guide

AGNES is 3 cm wide and features seven holes spaced 4 cm apart. The middle hole measurement runs from the buckle to the middle adjustment hole.

Size Total Length Middle Hole Width
XS/S 96 cm / 37.8" 75 cm / 29.5" 3 cm / 1.18"
M/L 111 cm / 43.7" 90 cm / 35.4" 3 cm / 1.18"

What Makes a Good Leather Belt?

Look for genuine leather, considered proportions, and hardware that feels intentional. Clean edge finishing, topstitching, and a well-made buckle make a significant difference to how a belt looks and wears over time.

AGNES is crafted from 100% Australian Bovine Leather with edge painting and topstitching throughout. The 3 cm width creates a proportion that feels refined while still giving the belt enough presence to define the waist. The oval buckle is deliberately simple, and on the reverse, embossed with the SIÉ STUDIO logo. A premium detail, quietly done.

How to Wear a Leather Belt

A good leather belt is one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe. With denim, it defines the waist and pulls a look together. With tailored trousers or a crisp shirt, it adds polish. Belted over an oversized blazer or coat, it creates shape through a more relaxed silhouette, a considered, high-fashion approach that works across seasons.

Why We Designed AGNES

We wanted AGNES to be the belt you reach for without thinking. The design is intentionally pared back: Australian leather, 3 cm wide, clean edge painting, subtle topstitching, and an oval silver buckle. Nothing unnecessary.

Caring for Your Belt

A high-quality leather belt moulds to your body over time and develops a beautiful, unique patina.

To care for AGNES, avoid contact with oils, perfumes, and makeup. Keep it away from excessive heat, humidity, and chemicals. For everyday cleaning, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Store AGNES in its dust bag when not in use — leather is a natural material and needs to breathe. To read more, visit our Care Guide.
